Karen Lilly, Board President

Karen started volunteering with the choir in 2002 when her first son began singing with the choir and continued when her second son started in 2003. Although both her boys have moved on, Karen has continued to be our President. She created and maintains the BBC Society, an organization of alumni and patrons who support the choir financially, solicits corporate donations and seeks to increase publicity. She says she continues to volunteer because she enjoys “seeing more and more boys benefit from this truly valuable experience as my own boys did. As funding for the arts continues to decline and we experience more competition for our boys attention, from electronics to athletics, I hope to not only maintain this beautiful tradition, but to grow it to its full potential.” Karen also owns an insurance agency, Professional Insurance Consultants in Burlington, North Carolina.

Keith Windley, Vice President

Keith has been involved with the Burlington Boys Choir for over six years. He served as president of the executive board for three years and currently serves as its vice president. He was co-president of the parent board for 2005-2006 and his wife, Angela, was president for 2004-2005. His son, Ryan, was a member of the choir for five years and continues to sing in Western Alamance High School’s choral program. Keith is employed as the manager of VantageSouth Bank’s West Burlington Office. He is an active participant in St. Marks Church’s music ministry. “I believe in the choirs mission of teach musical excellence to boys while instilling in them the values that will prepare them to our future community leaders.

Margaret Frye, Secretary

Margie is an Administrative Specialist for LabCorp in Burlington. Margie was born and grew up in Burlington. The Burlington Boys Choir has been a part of her family for many years. Her brother and former husband were members, as well as many of her school classmates. After living in New Jersey for 15 years, where her children were born, she had the opportunity to come back to Burlington. In 2000, her 9-year-old son was asked to join the choir and continue the family tradition. He was in the BBC for 2 years and later was in the men’s chorus of The Choir. While her son was a member of The Choir, she was very involved in volunteer work for the choir.

“I continue to volunteer as a Board member, because the choir is an important part of Burlington’s history as well as my own family. My son’s love of music began with the BBC and has continued on into his high school career. He plans to study music in college. I truly believe that the training that he received in the BBC helped to foster that love of music. I want to see that happen for other boys. I feel it was an honor for my son to be a part of such a wonderful organization.”

James P. Kriska, Treasurer

James began serving The Choir as Treasurer in 2006. James was born in Detroit, MI, and spent most of his early years in South Central Pennsylvania (Chambersburg, PA). James attended West Virginia University, in Morgantown, WV and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1982. He began his business career with Fleetwood Enterprises of Riverside, CA. Fleetwood Enterprises is a leading manufacturer of manufactured housing and recreational vehicles. James relocated to North Carolina in 1989, and began working with the CPA firm of what was then know as Cooper’s and Lybrand, New York, NY. It was at Coopers and Lybrand that Mr. Kriska gained exposure to the Health Care industry. He joined Carolina Meadows Retirement Community (Chapel Hill, NC) in 1993 and continues serving this continuing care retirement community as their Controller to the present. James is married with two children (Andrew and Aaron). Youngest son Aaron is a 3 year member of the Burlington Boys Choir. James enjoys spending time with his children while they pursue their musical interests, and also volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America.

Jeannie Proctor, Board Member

Jeannie’s affiliation with the choir began in 2001 when her son began choir. During her son’s seven years with the choir, she held various offices on the parent board, organized choir notebooks, and made costumes for the spring concerts. She continues to work with the choir as a board member, and will continue organizing the boys’ music notebooks each semester and helping with costumes. She feels it is important to continue her affiliation with the choir because “It never ceases to amaze me how much my son, and other boys, benefit from their association with the choir. Many of the boys continue with music long after they leave the choir; it becomes such a big part of who they are. Singing with the choir helps not only to build on their musical talents, but also helps to build self-confidence, to improve their academic performance, and to broaden their knowledge of other cultures. I want to see many boys in Alamance County have the opportunity to grow in the ways my own son has.” Jeannie also volunteers with the local community theatre group, Gallery Players. Professionally, she is the Department Head of Early Childhood at Alamance Community College.
